The United States launched a fresh wave of military strikes against Iran on Wednesday, escalating tensions as President Donald Trump warned Tehran that it "better behave" or face further action.
According to the US military, the strikes targeted Iranian military capabilities allegedly used to threaten commercial vessels passing through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that air defense systems were activated in the capital, Tehran, during the attacks.
Iran responded by claiming it had launched strikes on US military targets across the region, including bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, marking the fifth consecutive day of renewed hostilities that have placed a preliminary peace agreement under severe strain.
Iran's top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said Tehran had "no reason" to honor the deal if it failed to deliver benefits for Iran.
Speaking to reporters later, Trump declined to set a deadline for further action but reiterated his warning, saying Iran "better behave" as pressure mounts for renewed negotiations.
