At least three people were injured in a violent multi-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Upper Manhattan, New York City, police said.
The NYPD said officers responded shortly after 6:30 a.m. to the intersection of West 204th Street and Sherman Avenue in the Inwood neighborhood, where a major collision had occurred.
According to police, a man driving a Corvette at a high rate of speed collided with a Mercedes-Benz at the intersection. The force of the crash sent the Corvette into a 34-year-old pedestrian before it slammed into a nearby building.
The Mercedes-Benz then struck a parked vehicle and a moped, officials said. The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene following the crash.
The Corvette driver and passenger, along with the injured pedestrian, were taken to a hospital. Officials said all three were in stable condition.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
