An 18-year-old man, Bradley Scott Sayer, is facing murder charges after a shooting at the Butte County Library in Chico, California, killed two people and injured a 7-year-old girl. The incident happened shortly before the library closed, sending visitors and staff rushing for safety. Police officers arrived within minutes and arrested the suspect near the building.
Investigators said the suspect had planned the attack in advance and described it as a "massacre-type" shooting. According to police, he entered the library, left briefly to get a shotgun from his vehicle, and then returned before opening fire. Authorities believe he acted alone and had no known relationship with the victims.
The victims were identified as 74-year-old Robert Johnson and 46-year-old Jacob Hull. The young girl suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover. Detectives are continuing to examine the suspect's motive, digital activity, and the evidence collected during the investigation.
