Israeli lawmaker Tzvi Succot smashed a memorial bearing the names of Palestinians killed in the occupied West Bank village of Madama on Tuesday, according to Israeli media reports.
Succot, a member of the far-right Religious Zionism party, shared a photograph on X showing him using a large hammer to break apart the memorial in the village, located south of Nablus. Video footage circulating online also appeared to show Succot damaging the memorial while Israeli soldiers stood nearby.
The lawmaker said he had repeatedly urged the Israeli army in recent weeks to remove what he described as “terror memorials” across the area. Succot expressed hope that authorities would take action to remove similar memorials as soon as possible.
The incident has drawn attention to ongoing tensions in the occupied West Bank, where disputes over Palestinian memorials and Israeli military presence remain highly contentious.
